My ADHD
My ADHD gives me both disadvantages and advantages. One advantage is that it gives me a big imagination and creativity. I enjoy writing stories and creating characters. Writing can be very fun because I can write about dragons, Pokémon, soccer, and many other things I like.
At the same time, ADHD can make it difficult for me to concentrate. Sometimes I lose focus in class, forget instructions, or have trouble finishing tasks. I may start something with excitement but then lose interest before it is completed. I often need reminders and extra effort to stay on task.
Sometimes I feel very energetic and rush into things without thinking. Other times I feel nervous or scared, especially when I am in new situations or when people are not patient with me. When we moved back home from Alberta, I felt bored because I did not have many things to do and I missed some familiar routines.
Taking medication helps me focus better in class and listen more carefully. It does not solve everything, but it makes it easier for me to pay attention and complete my work. Even with medication, I still have to work hard to stay organized and finish what I start.
ADHD also affects my emotions. Sometimes I feel happy and excited, especially when I am playing soccer, writing stories, or doing things I enjoy. Last week I scored a goal in soccer, and I felt proud, excited, and happy. Soccer helps me release energy and gives me confidence.
Friendships can sometimes be challenging for me. I have many friends, but there are times when I feel left out or misunderstood. Sometimes I get nervous around other people, and I worry about what they think of me. Even so, I continue trying to make friends and build good relationships.
One thing I enjoy is having a strong imagination. I like making up stories, dreams, and adventures. It is fun and helps me express my creativity. My favorite movie is Bolt, and I enjoy many activities that allow me to use my imagination.
Although ADHD can make some parts of life harder, it is also a part of who I am. It gives me creativity, energy, and unique ways of thinking. I am learning how to manage my challenges while using my strengths. Every day I am working on becoming more focused, more confident, and a better version of myself.
