My school life sucks. Ever since 9th grade started in September, things have been going completely wrong. I didn’t get any classes with my best friend, I couldn’t participate in any rugby games because the coach thought I wasn’t good enough, My teachers have been handing me too much homework, and my other friends have been constantly ignoring me for some reason.
Why did people treat me like this? Well, maybe it happened because I kept asking too many questions, invading their personal space, and refusing to go away when people told me to stop.
What I have learned from this experience was that the more you approach, the more they go away. So I tried to be calm and suddenly, friends started talking to me more often. Turns out,
The ultimate golden rule of friendships is patience.
You don’t need to rush in order to make friends; you just have to wait patiently and people will eventually come back for you. If you have only one best friend, it is completely okay. You need someone who can truly understand you and understand you clearly. Besides, having one loyal friend is worth more than a thousand fake ones. A true friend will stand up for you whenever you are in danger.
The other thing I learned was that when people bully or tease you, the best thing to do is to simply ignore and walk away.
Bullies want attention; getting upset and trying to fight back only gets them more entertained and it only makes the problem worse. Don’t be the problem, be the solution!
And finally, when someone tells you to stop or leave, do it right away. At first, people will try to be nice to you by politely asking to do something. When you receive that message, you need to listen. If you don’t you can make someone feel uncomfortable and will not be friends with you. Therefore, treat others the way you want to be treated!
